Description
The updated Chimera represents the peak of Scarpa's current abilities in climbing shoe construction and state of the art materials. This fine-tuned model features a handcrafted multi-panel upper, rubber-wrapped forefoot, aggressively downturned profile and asymmetrical shape with full-length off-set lace closure.
The Chimera strikes the perfect blend between power and sensitivity: PCB-Tension™ active rand allows the climber the grab with their feet like an extra set of hands on steep overhangs, while the TPS insert provides edging power and underfoot support when you transition onto more vertical terrain with smaller footholds.
The combo of the SRT toe-wrap and strategically placed asymmetric lacing system allow for excellent toe hooking capabilities while also providing a high range of adjustability for a variety of climber's foot shapes and volumes. The Chimera is a perfect choice for sport climbs and boulders that feature a variety of climbing angles.

PRESSURE ABSORBING FIT (PAF) SYSTEM
AF (Pressure Absorbing Fit) is an innovative heel system that helps both spread the force of the heel tension and improve the fit of the heel. The Active Rand rubber is interrupted behind the heel to reduce pressure on the Achilles tendon and is connected with 2mm XS GRIP2 rubber that works like a bridge and allows full adaption to the shape of the heel while still providing dynamic forward pressure to focus power over the big toe. The holes on the side of the heel indicate the tension applied, which varies between 1 hole for light tension, 2 holes for mid tension and 3 holes for strong tension.
SURROUND RUBBER TENSION (SRT)
SRT is a layer of Scarpa's ultra-soft M50 rubber that wraps around the forefoot and translates the power directly to the tips of the toes. It also provides maximum friction and sensitivity for toe-hooking. Climbing with soft shoes improves one’s climbing style and naturally strengthens toe power. The total freedom of foot placement stimulates a faster and more dynamic movement on rock or plastic.
