Metolius - Safe Tech Comp

Metolius' Safe Tech series are the most advanced and safest harnesses available, and all but eliminate the concept of low-strength components. By engineering safety into each and every harness, Metolius hopes to eliminate basic mistakes, which can and do result in injury or death. Additionally, their patented adjustable-rise system allows you to adjust this critical component to your exact dimensions. This system is unique to the Safe Tech line.
The Comp is the lightest harness in the Safe Tech series, with streamlined non-adjustable leg loops, narrow components for unmatched comfort and freedom of movement, and a locking speed-buckle for easy on and off.

I needed to replace my petzl sama harness for two reasons, the tie in point on the leg loops was wearing through and it sagged too much with a full double set of cams and all the other gear I drag up trad routes. I chose the metolius comp for a few reasons; #1 it's made in the USA, #2 it's supposed to be super durable and, lastly I hate adjustable gear loops.

I wear a size 34 pant and ordered the large (I think the medium may have worked???).

Cons: The new quick lock buckle on this harness is convenient but a bit hard to get as tight as I would like.
The gear loops are really floppy, I really dont like how soft they are when I'm racking.
The harness is rather floppy compared to my last couple of harnesses which makes putting it on a bit more of a hassle.

Pros: I didn't notice the harness while belaying on multipitch routes (not hanging belays though), or while sports climbing.

The gear loops are more to the side than my last harness which means I don't have to push my gear off my front thigh while chimneying.

The leg loops are tight enough, I just hope the elastic doesn't wear out too fast.

Made in the USA!

Good colors.

So if I was to do it over I would have liked to do a side by side with a Misty Turbo (similar style, cost and made in the US), but I'm not too worried about it. Im going to figure out a way to stiffen the gear loops and I'll have to take my time putting the Harness on so that a leg loop isn't flipped and the waist buckle is as tight as possible.

Hope this helps! Review by Scott
