- It Really Works!!
- I had a chance to test drive this jacket yesterday while walking home from work at -30 weather with the wind chill for an hour. It really kept me smiling in the cold! When I first got this jacket, I had my doubts because I never thought that something so lightweight would be able to so the job, despite reading the descriptions on Western Mountaineering's website. It really did stop the wind (as long as you keep a good seal around your hip, hands, and neck areas) and kept my core comfortably war; and I only wore a fleece base layer and my acrylic sweater underneath. With another layer or so, like a good hoodie or a wool commando sweater and another long sleeved shirt, it would totally make the perfect arsenal against even colder weather! It was well worth the price and the quality is top-notch!
- Very Comfy
- I ordered this for my Dad as an advanced birthday present, as aour winters here in Alberta, Canada tend to go as low as -40 and below at times. Based on the size chart, I ordered a medium hoping that there would still be a bit of room to layer underneath. It fitted a little snug, at least in appearance, and the hip area could be a few inches looser. But as for doing its job, my Dad says that it is quite warm! We never expected this jacket to be so light, yet so effective at keeping out the wind, especially this past weekend here with the -40 weather including the wind chill! An excellent product for surviving the extreme cold for sure!
- Very warm, lightweight, well-made in the U.S.A.
I saved my pennies for one of these for the coldest of winter days on my job as a municipal inspector. This is so cozy I sometimes don't use the heater in the car. It has a wonderfully down filled hood that is very functional and versatile allowing the wearer to cinch it down at the back to maintain peripheral vision with the hood on.
It is pricey, but very high quality. It is worth the extra cost to me to buy made in the U.S.A
