Western Mountaineering - SummerLite

Weighing in at just 1 lb 3 oz, the SummerLite is the lightest continuous-baffle sleeping bag that Western Mountaineering makes. These baffles allow you to regulate the temperature of the bag by shifting the down on top of you in colder temperatures, or underneath you when things warm up, making for a very versatile summer bag. Hard to believe in a bag this light, but the SummerLite even comes with a full length zipper and an insulated draft tube for extra protection from the elements. Western Mountaineering designed this bag for the lightweight fanatics who have provided them with feedback, criticism, and motivation to continue producing the lightest down products available.
Like all of Western Mountaineering's bags, the SummerLite is made by hand in San Jose, California.

I've used my Summerlite on numerous trips and have been completely satisfied. The only negative thing I hear from other people about Western Mountaineering products is the price. Well yes they are expensive, but they are worth it. The bag is extremely high quality and the warmth to weight ratio is outstanding. I have spent numerous nights in this 32 degree bag when the temp. was that or a little lower and stayed toasty warm, while only wearing a light base layer and a pair of wool socks inside the bag. The continuous baffles they use allow you to shift the down easily from the bottom of the bag to the top to make it warmer and back again if the temp. is higher. Go to Western's website to get the details on this great feature. At 19 oz. and a packed size of 6x12 it is fantastic. Also the stiffeners along the full length zipper have made snagged and stuck zippers a thing of the past for me. Review by Matt W
well made ultralight summer sleeping bag, heavier than advertised

NOTE: bag was 25g heavier than advertised on Western Mountaineering's website. Disappointing for ultralight folk!

Bag looks very well made and should be warm enough for summer trips. Look forward to some speed missions and also longer summer trips in the hills this season!

It's nice to have a traditional shaped bag rather than a quilt, as I turn a lot at nights (so a zip and draught tube are better for me than a quilt). I also lose a lot of heat through my head (hood is good!) . Review by Henriette B
