Thirty years ago, two Northern Californian mountaineers came up with a vision for using meticulous engineering, the finest raw materials, and unparalleled workmanship to design the highest quality sleeping bags. Today, Western Mountaineering has more than fulfilled that mission with dozens of ultralite sleeping bag models, as well as uncompromising down jackets, pants, and booties for the most extreme cold weather conditions. All Western Mountaineering ultralite products are manufactured in their factory in San Jose, California, which is still a hands-on operation.

It has wide shoulder girth, and promises to keep the shivers away with 42 ounces of down fill and a -10 degree F rating. For warmer climes, the mummy-style Alpinlite combines ExtremeLite fabric with 19 ounces of down fill to come in under two pounds and gain a +20 degree F rating.
