The primary difference in the sizes is going to be the torso length of the pack, and correspondingly where on your waist the hipbelt sits. The S/M size will generally fit torsos up to 19" best, while the L/XL will fit torsos 20" or longer best. The capacity of the pack is essentially the same between the sizes, with 51 liters in the S/M, and 52 liters in the L/XL.
