Questions on Moment

    • I'm 6'7"... Will I be ok in the Moment?

      Thanks... Jay
    • Thanks for the question. You would technically "fit" in the Moment, but I think you would find it less roomy than it looks from the photo online. It has good headroom if you're sitting up, but because you will use almost the entire floor length your head will end up somewhat cramped in the end. Even so, there aren't too many long ultralight shelters on the market, and Tarptent makes several of them. If you are okay with trading a little comfort for an ultralight tent, then it's probably a good pick.

For an extra seven ounces, we sell the Big Agnes Fly Creek UL 1 tent. It's a double wall shelter (much less condensation), and it's a hair longer than the Moment. I think you would find the Fly Creek to be a little more comfortable. It would be my pick. Thanks again for the question!

    • My dog comes along on my trips, shes smaller only 30lbs... is there a enough room for her at my side? hows the durability of the floor, will her nails put holes in it?
    • Thanks for the question. I think there would be enough room for her in the vestibule, but it would be a pretty tight squeeze inside the inner tent (possibly doable). The floor is durable, but a dog's nails are fairly sharp. I don't think she'll put holes in the floor, but I think the floor would wear out more quickly if she's in the tent every night you're out. It might be a good idea to bring a small piece of tyvek, or some other lightweight scrap of material for her to lay on. It would be an inexpensive and lightweight bit of insurance.

Here's the setup video from Tarptent's website, at about the 1/3 point you can see Henry Shires (owner) showing off the tent interior, and it gives a pretty good idea of the scale and usable space in this shelter: http://tarptent.com/momentsetup.html
