Questions on Contrail
- From Lynda at 7/30/12 4:57 PM
- Is this tent totally enclosed to keep out bugs... It looks like on the photo that there is a gap between the ground and bottom of tent.
- Thanks for the question. Yes, this tent is fully enclosed. The gap that you see is bridged by bug netting that is permanently attached to the bathtub floor. That large gap exists for ventilation and to keep the inner tent a good distance from any possible spray or windblown rain. There are some great photos and even a video on the Tarptent website. I'll include the link below. Thanks!

- Is it possible to pitch this tent using two poles so there is no pole in the middle? Also can it be pitched without poles and hung from above?
- Thank you for the question. Yes, depending on the height of your poles you can use two poles, or you can keep one pole at more of an angle to allow more access to the entrance. It can also be suspended from above using a guy-line, eliminating the need for poles. Thanks!

Quick Overview
Go Ultralight!- Description
-
Tarptent's Contrail is a superlight 1-person (2 in a pinch) tent that only requires one pole to set up. It features plenty of space for the camper and their gear, enough space in fact that your bag should not touch the sidewalls. The ventilation is excellent, with a rear storm flap that you can roll up from inside the tent. Fast and easy to set up, this is a great tent for the ultralight packer.

- Still awesome after 3 years Review by Tony

Price Value Quality I've had this tent for three years and its still one of the lightest, most packable, and roomiest tents I've ever played with. It pitches quick and has survived through some pretty narly storms including one or two with high winds and hail.
It is single wall so you do get some condensation but it has always been manageable because of the large volume.
The length is great for us taller (6'4") guys, I even have enough length to put my pack below my feet.
Highly recommended!(Posted on 2/3/13)

Price Value Quality this tent is light. this tent has room for a solo hiker and gear. but seams aren't sealed and no seam sealer is provided. also comes with 4 stakes, not enough to stake it for high wind (also no extra guy lines). don't bother with the optional tyvex ground sheet, you can do better (tyvex is like a plastic coated paper).
