Questions on Alpine Bivy
- From Ryan at 12/8/11 7:04 PM
- what is not freestanding about it?
- Thanks for the question. The Alpine Bivy isn't considered free standing because it requires stakes to keep the fabric tensioned and the pole upright. Without stakes, the shelter would be somewhat limp. Staking it out also increases airflow (very important in a bivy!). The only "free-standing" bivy we carry is the Integral Designs Wedge Bivy, and it's really more like a small mountaineering tent. Thanks!
