2002 Mountain Hardwear Tent Features
Power Clip
Mountain Hardwear tents have oversized gated clips on all pole intersections. Easy one handed operation eliminates the need for double clips, saves weight, and is easy for set up and take down.
Off-Ground Perimeter Seam
To keep the critical floor-to-sidewall seam up off the ground, Mountain Hardwear has cut all the tents with shorter sidewalls and wider floors. This creates a waterproof tub, places the floor seam under the fly for extra weather protection, and increases the strength and tautness of the pitch.
Rear Canopy Fly Zipper
This zipper is at the foot of the rear tent canopy and can be accessed from the inside. This allows you to open and close the fly for venting or viewing without leaving the comfort of home. Available on the following tents: Nightview, Thru-Hiker, Room with a View.
Toughguy
The Tuff Guy combines a built-in guy-out line in the tent fly with a stake-out tab. By triangulating the stake-out webbing, the guy-out webbing, and the lower portion of a tent pole, the Tuff Guy creates a strong, rigid section at a key point in the tent's structure.
Convertible Zip-Out Panel
Mountain Hardwear convertible tents come with a zip-out panel that you can leave behind to save ounces. Zip-in the panel to convert to a four season tent.
Guy-Out Loops
On all four season and convertible flysheets Mountain Hardwear has provided interior clips for attachment to the poles next to the numerous guy-out loops. All guy-out loops, pull-outs, stake-out loops and grommet tabs are made of flexible, strong and abrasion-resistant nylon webbing and are bar-tacked to provide bombproof durability.
Tension Shelf [Patented]
The Tension Shelf "tensions" the tent pole, giving it additional strength to support the canopy and vestibule while also dramatically increasing the tent's load-bearing capacity. By strategically adding fabric, it also provides the bonus feature of an inside storage shelf.
UVX Windows
Tested at altitudes of 27,000 feet, Mountain Hardwear's proprietary clear film is tear-proof and will not "cloud" like PVC or plastic film. UVX is UV and cold resistant, remaining flexible to -66 fahrenheit. Windows are positioned on flys to allow the user to view conditions outside the tent without letting the weather inside.
Trango 3.1 Tension Arch [Patented]
The Tension Arch dramatically increases the strength of a tent through the use of internal tension and is an extension of the Tension Shelf. The Tension Arch is a fabric web that runs across the inside of the tent roof and adjusts with buckles and webbing at the floor. It has the strengthening effect of an internal guy system and offers bonus storage space with multiple pockets. It is available only on the Trango 3.1 Arch tent.
Adjustable Fly Attachment
Freeze-proof snap hook and tension lock buckle allow the fly to be pulled closer to the ground during inclement weather. They won't freeze or collect snow and they're field repairable. (Expedition and Backcountry Tents)
