- Great boot for light mountaineering Review by timothy

Price Value Quality I have the model from a couple years ago, but it is basically the same. These boots are really versatile. I have taken these on spring backpacking trips in warmer, dry weather and I didn't get too hot or uncomfortable. I have also taken them on some mountaineering trips involving some glacier travel and they kept my feet plenty warm.
They have a heel lug for crampons which is nice. They are also very supportive on both your feet and ankles. However, do yourself a favor and break them in before you go on a multi-day climb. I took a brand-new pair on a 2-day backpacking trip and summit climb of Middle Sister in Oregon. I was really sorry by the end of the first day when I had no skin on the backs of my heels. On subsequent trips I was fine though so they are very comfortable once broken in.
If you are looking to do a multi-day glacier extravaganza in cold weather your toes might get a little cold. I would say these are best used as an all-around mountaineering boot for anything that isn't too extreme.
