Hilleberg - Bivanorak
For bivy bag/sleeping bag cover use, the Bivanorak is cut long and wide enough to accommodate both a sleeping bag and pad. The draw cord at the lower hem cinches down to seal the warmth in and the rain out, and a long front zipper makes it easy to get in and out. The large hood is also big enough to accommodate the hood of your sleeping bag and still be cinched tightly around your face. For bivy use, Hilleberg recommends using the Bivanorak in conjuction with a tarp, since it has openings at the hood, sleeves and hem. To use it as an anorak, simply pull the bottom hem up inside the body of the Bivanorak and tighten the draw cord around your waist. There is even enough room to carry a small backpack underneath.
Pair this with your rain pants or chaps and you have superb wet weather protection. The Bivanorak's breathable, polyurethane coating is fully water and wind proof, and all seams are factory taped. As a result, the Bivanorak makes an outstanding emergency shelter. Simply pull it out of your pack, climb in, and wait out the storm.
