  • The manufacturer provides several options for belt sizes on the Blaze AC 60. Is it possible to specify the belt size when ordering this pack through Backcountry Gear?

You can simply write in the notes field during checkout, "Please swap belt for large size/small size" and we'll make the change on your order.   • Are there any convenient ways to secure an ice axe and crampons to this pack?
    If not, are there similar packs withs these features?
  • Thanks for the question. It's pretty easy to carry tools and crampons with this pack, but it's not necessarily designed with mountaineering in mind. If you already store your crampons in some sort of puncture proof stuff sack, then they would fit easily into the large stretchy mesh storage pouch on the front of the pack. The two loops visible in the photo (on the bottom of the pack) are for ice tools... the tools carry upside down with the pick(s) pointing towards the center of the pack. The handle tucks behind the line loc compression straps. If you're primarily a backpacker that needs an axe and crampons, this pack is an awesome choice. If you're primarily a mountaineer, I would go with something a little more rugged and streamlined. Thanks!

  • Does this pack accommodate a bear can?
    If so, will it fit side to side or would you have to stand it up on end?
  • Thanks for the question. Yes, this pack will fit the Backpackers Cache Bear Canister snugly from side to side, and the BearVault can just barely squeeze in side to side as well. If you already have the BearVault you might be better off standing it up on end. Granite Gear makes accessory "Bear Hug" stuff sacks that pack around upright bear canisters for more efficient use of space if you're standing it up (http://www.backcountrygear.com/granite-gear-bear-hugs.html).
