Five Ten - Camp Four
Quick Overview
Comfortable approach/hiking shoes- Description
-
The Camp Four is a rugged multi-purpose/approach shoe with an external heel cage for added rear-foot support and stability. The Camp Four is a hiker’s dream. It is light enough for everyday wear, but extremely rugged, and designed as an alternative to heavy, clumsy leather hiking boots. The Camp Four features Five Ten's new proprietary technology--a molded PU external heel cage that adds rear-foot support and stability, allowing you to hump heavy loads for long distances, without the need for a high-top boot! This extremely stable, secure shoe has a lace to toe closure that can be worn relaxed, for a long-distance fit, or tightened, for climbing and scrambling. Co-molded Stealth C4/S1 high-friction soles provide the world’s best friction on any terrain.

- great approach / hiker... but it won't edge like an anasazi. Review by PTrendler

Price Value Quality I have been wearing the Camp4 for almost four years now. I have been grabbing this one out of the pile for cragging, guiding, expedition backpacking, and mountain biking. when comparing it to other approach shoes I've owned (guide tennnies, exum ridges) I have found that what they lack in precise edging ability, the comfort and durability on the trail have far surpased the need to edge. Bottom line is they hike like a dream, won't fall apart after years of abuse, and climb all but the smallest edges very well. I'll be buying another when if they ever kick the bucket

- solid low-top approach/hiker Review by AgainstTheWild

Price Value Quality Five-Ten's Camp Four is a solid hiker/approach shoe. The soft rubber soles offer secure traction on all surfaces, and the reinforced toe make it easy to climb up rock obstacles. Another nice feature is the reinforced heel, which allows boot support on a low-top shoe. The lace system on the shoes go down to the toe giving you the same secure fit that can be found in most climbing hoes. A downside to the shoe is that it is tight and stiff at the toes, which can lead to numbness or an uncomfortable tingle at the end of a long day. All in all the shoes are great and highly recommended.
