- great for running
This vest did not bounce or chafe or anything on a run to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back. It is as confortable as a T-shirt. I had it loaded with two soft water bottles, tekking poles, and shoved my running pants and light fleece top in the back once it got warm. I also had a couple food bars and some hydration tablets in the pockets. It was perfect for the trip. I plan on using this vest for my long runs when it gets hot this Spring/Summer.
On the negetive side, it does not come with water bottles or a bladder. I spent an additional $40 for two soft flask water bottles. Keep that in mind when shopping for a running vest. I could have stuck a bladder in from another pack, but I wanted to put gear in the stash pocket in the back. Front pockets above the water bottle pockets are just a 1/2" too small to stick a smartphone in; and I have an old iPhone 3! Hopefully new design will expand these pockets just a little so cameras or phones can fit. It does not come with bungee strap cord, but has loops sewn in for it. I added my own. Some of the Salomon vests might give you more bang for your buck, but try them on first, with weight in the pockets. They have a higher initial cost, but come with two bottles, straps, etc.
I tried it with a regular rigid 500ml water bottle, and it sloshed and dug into my ribs. Soft bottles are the way to go!
Sizing: I'm right between a men's medium and a large T-shirt, I usually wear medium, and the M/L vest fits me great.
