Product Reviews

Fast is fun
I usually backpack alone on 1-3 day trips and since I've had this pack, life has been a ball. Everything I need fits and when I need extra space the Flashpack pocket works pretty well. Review by Sam R
Great pack
BIG fan of Exped. When I saw this on sale at Backcountrygear, I couldn't resist. The entire experience from purchase to delivery to meeting product expectations was flawless. The Lightening 45 is a very well made lightweight pack. Top loading with no frills like outside pockets. There are roomy belt pockets though but hard to reach side pockets more so for stabilizing outside stored items such as poles. The adjustability will no doubt be copied by any well thought out designer; extremely easy!
Only one drawback: My 3 liter hydration pack will not fit in the compartment that is made for this purpose. Exped states that a 2 liter hydration pack will fit, however. Thank you Backcountrygear for such awesome deals. LOVE IT!

Questions & Answers

Hi - I understand the 2014 version of the Lightning has the lower side compression strap going behind/underneath the side pocket, rather than over it. Can you confirm this is the version you have for sale? The photo of the pack shows the old version with the strap over the side pocket.

Thanks! Oliver

I am a tall hiker and have trouble finding a torso length that fits. I have looked on your site for specifications but haven't found any numbers. How long can the torso height be adjusted to?

One video review that I saw was a few years old and it showed that there isn't a good water bladder holder/pocket or hose hole for the bladder. Has this been corrected in these newer models?
