    • One video review that I saw was a few years old and it showed that there isn't a good water bladder holder/pocket or hose hole for the bladder. Has this been corrected in these newer models?
    • Thank you for the question. There still isn't a very good reservoir pocket, but there are hang tabs for a reservoir on the inside of the pack (in the right spot). There is a somewhat funky hose port on the inside organizer lid. It's difficult to describe, but suffice it to say there is a purpose built hydration port on the pack. The port is accessed through a zippered pocket from the outside. Thanks!

    • I am a tall hiker and have trouble finding a torso length that fits. I have looked on your site for specifications but haven't found any numbers. How long can the torso height be adjusted to?
    • Hi Sean,

      thank you for your inquiry.
      The Exped 45 fits a torso length of 42 - 57 cm (17 - 22.5 inches) and waist/hips 70 - 134 cm (27.5 - 52.5 inches).

    • Hi - I understand the 2014 version of the Lightning has the lower side compression strap going behind/underneath the side pocket, rather than over it. Can you confirm this is the version you have for sale? The photo of the pack shows the old version with the strap over the side pocket.

      Thanks! Oliver
    • Hey Oliver,

      Thank you for your question.

I took a look, and the version we have on hand is indeed the newer one with the strap threading underneath the side pockets.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

      Best regards,
      Rich

BIG fan of Exped. When I saw this on sale at Backcountrygear, I couldn't resist. The entire experience from purchase to delivery to meeting product expectations was flawless. The Lightening 45 is a very well made lightweight pack. Top loading with no frills like outside pockets. There are roomy belt pockets though but hard to reach side pockets more so for stabilizing outside stored items such as poles. The adjustability will no doubt be copied by any well thought out designer; extremely easy!
Only one drawback: My 3 liter hydration pack will not fit in the compartment that is made for this purpose. Exped states that a 2 liter hydration pack will fit, however. Thank you Backcountrygear for such awesome deals. LOVE IT!
