The SMC Aluminum Light D has long been a favorite in all climbing disciplines due to the fact that it is strong, basic and light. After all an icy mountainside is no place for bells and whistles. The Light D is the smallest and lightest of SMC's aluminum carabiners. While it weighs a mere 1.7 oz, it is nearly identical in strength to the ubiquitous SMC Oval. The asymmetrical D shape shifts more of the load to the frame and away from the gate which increases strength and allows for a large gate opening. The Light D features low profile tabs which help to make clipping in easy and hassle-free. The Light D incorporates the same design excellence and attention to detail as every other SMC carabiner, plus the Light D is always 100% hand-inspected.
