Mountain Hardwear set out to build a new single wall high altitude mountaineering tent, they focused on ways to make it roomier and stronger than existing products. They innovated a system of non-stretch panels that map the tents main tension lines, along the poles and down the side panels to the main guy points. Using VX02, a 3-ply fabric reinforced with high-strength non-stretch grid, it creates a fabric truss structure that resists deformation by holding the poles in a stable arch. Most tent fabrics have significant stretch which allows poles to shift and deform potentially to the point of failure. Mountain Hardwears new truss structure reinforces the strength of the pole with the structure of the tent body.
