Black Diamond "Livewire Anodized Carabiner" |

|
The 2004 version of the LiveWire was created for fast and easy clipping--regardless of which way the biner is facing or which way it's clipped. Traditionally used as a "rope end" biner, the LiveWire has a "clipping bump" on its spine that provides climbers with in-hand control while clipping. The LiveWire also has a slight curve in its spine, keeping the body relatively narrow, with a large basket area for easy index clips and a wide gate opening. The LiveWire also has a large rope-bearing radius which reduces rope wear and a hooded nose that prevents its wire gate from being "rubbed open". It resists gate whiplash and is less prone to freezing up on ice climbs.
