A short gaiter is just the ticket when you need to keep twigs, scree, or snow out of the top of your boot. These have become a favorite among hikers on the Pacific Crest and Appalachian trails. We chose uncoated packcloth as the fabric so that vapor permeability is high, and elastic at the top and bottom for a snug fit over the boot top and around the leg. A Velcro front closure makes it especially easy to work with.
