Quick Overview
Half the weight, half the price, twice the features.- Description
-
The Hennessy Hammock brings truly new features to the hammock. Only 2.5 pounds including bug-screen and rain-fly. It's rapidly gaining acceptance amongst those that want to travel light, but still have a comfortable nights sleep on a camping trip. The Expedition 2.5 is made of the same materials as the original Hennessey Hammock but has three new features. 1) Full Velcro closure on the entrance. 2) A suspended triangular mesh pocket 3) 2 wide nylon webbing attached to the end of the suspending ropes to protect the tender bark of trees and provide greater span for the ropes. We call them tree huggers. The Hennessy Hammock is ideal for hiking in the local hills or a cycling trip across the continent. It provides instant comfort over rocky, wet or sloping terrain and increased protection from sun, wind, rain, black flies, disease bearing mosquitoes, poisonous insects and small reptiles. The low impact, environmentally friendly design requires no ground leveling, trenching or staking.

- Excellent alternative to bivy and tent shelters Review by Pinkerton

Price Value Quality Other than a tendency to have an undersized rain fly, and requiring some imagination to insulate the bottom for cold-weather camping, the Hennessy hammocks are superb.
The materials are solid, and the crafting is rugged and durable. The weight is minimal, and if the stuff sack in comes in doesn't quite do it for you, there are snake skins available which will both protect and compact the hammock. If either of these options still doesn't please you, you can just stuff the hammock in your bag to fill any empty pockets.
Sleeping is great, maybe a night to get used to it and find the most comfortable position, but after that sleep is great. No more rocks or sticks or slopes to keep you up, and the mosquito netting is off your body so you can't be bothered through the mesh, and the hammock body has so far proven impenetrable. Also you can sleep with your feet slightly elevated by scooching down, which helps to relieve the swelling after taking off your boots.
Overall, an exemplary product, and did I mention you can lay flat unlike other hammocks on the market?(Posted on 2/2/12)

Price Value Quality I've had my hennessy for 8 years, best nights sleep on the trail you can get. Strong as can be. Love not having to find a totally flat, smooth area for a tent.
