Equinox - Pamola
Quick OverviewLight and Simple!
Equinox's Katahdin was an extremely popular pack, but people wanted something just like it, only smaller. Equinox listened to the requests and designed the Pamola to be exactly like the Katahdin, but with a smaller capacity. This pack is great for anyone looking for a slightly smaller version of the Katahdin. Of particular note, the shoulder straps and hip belt are narrower and reduce potential friction points and create a better fit. For those ultralighters looking for a tighter fit, the Pamola is an excellent choice.

I purchased this bag for one of my sons. He had no use for ultra light camping; he likes the luxury of the system his father had already demonstrated. My wife has come to the point where she needed a lighter pack and so she accepted the invitation to use it. I was surprised how well it fit her in spite of the fact that she used the same pad for a frame which I use. What she liked best was she had pack, pad, and bag all for the weight of the next lightest pack we own. My Easyrest pad is the frame and her bag forms the base. Every thing else goes in the center according to likelihood of use. Simple and light. My one or two season pack now is about six seasons old and yes it does have a patch where a stick went through the fabric. I have added two plastic buckles to the waist band for dry camps, when water becomes a significant proportion of the load for a few miles. The pack remains stable even with the added weight. Even when ultra-lighting it we like to camp at some pristine points along the way. Leave only foot prints and others, many, can enjoy being the first one to camp here.
