Beal - Top Gun Unicore - Golden Dry
The Top Gun is made with Unicore, an astonishing process where the sheath and core are bonded without affecting the rope’s suppleness. If the sheath is cut or torn, the core and sheath remain bonded together. See the Video tab for more info on this great feature.
Golden Dry treatment means both the sheath and the core are treated. This way the rope has an astonishing water impermeability and incredible durability. In 2012 the UIAA adopted a new requirement for hydrophobic ropes that is now in full force. In this test a rope is subjected to light abrasion and soaked for 15 minutes. The amount of absorbed water must not be greater than 5% of the sample's weight. Beal's Golden Dry ropes easily qualify as "UIAA Water Repellent." A non-treated rope absorbs between 40% and 50% of its weight in water.
